Getting a Job
Job opportunities have never been greater for string teachers in our country. Just follow the path!

1. Earn a bachelor’s degree from a university or college that has an accredited music education program.
2. Meet certification requirements for the state in which you desire to teach. Each state has different requirements. Most have several levels of credentials for teachers based on level of education and number of years of experience. Check out your state’s information here!
3. Pass teacher examinations. You will need to pass either a state test or the widely used PRAXIS exam. This can usually be done in the senior year of college. Be sure to check the requirement for the state in which you wish to teach.
4. Get job listings through a college placement office, professional organizations, individual school districts, and word of mouth.
